we use the following regex expression in the username profile field in the admin... /^[a-zA-Z0-9]{1,10}$/i
this only allows letters and numbers to be used for usernames and it only allows a maximum username length of 10 characters.

I think you might be mistaken because i just checked and i also tried to register on your site with @/# and 20 character username and it let me, in the admin area i checked it says
username regexp is /^.+$/
and the password regexp is /^[a-zA-Z0-9]{4,10}$/i
Although i had to change my password regexp from
/^[a-zA-Z0-9]{4,10}$/i to /^[a-zA-Z0-9]{4,
30
}$/i
Because if your password is longer than 10 characters when a user is joining a window pops up and says "enter a password" I doesnt let the user know that you must enter a password between 0-10
It would be better if it only let you put in 10 characters for the username instead of putting in 15 and finding out you can use 15 same with the password

i beg to differ with you. you will not get past my 1st registration page without a prompt asking you to change your username. try again. create a bogus profile to prove me wrong. i'm sticking to my previous post. ( i will admit that if you hit the check button it will tell you that the username is available but you will not be able to get past the first registration page.)

you're welcome. the reason i limit the username to only 10 characters is because depending on which site template you may be using, the user thumbnails that are created upon photo approval look better when 10 character names or less appear above the users pic.
