I believe that from within admin it should be possible to view the messages sent by users, since this is a key element I find in detecting whether someone is just a spammer/scammer or not.

I have used this a lot to detect scammers but I have had to go directly to the database to do it.  Basically, when I suspect that someone is spamming/scamming, I go and check in the database what messages they have sent  Shocked and a typical spammer/scammer has sent over a hundred identical messages in short period of time to a sequential list of users.  Unluckily for them, one of those users is often me and it alerts me to investigate  Grin.

I would like the ability to do this via the admin interface.

The way I imagine this is as follows:

Within "Profile edit" there would be a new field displayed, "Messages sent: nn".  If the admin clicked on this link, they would be presented with a summary list of messages sent showing:
  • Date/time of message
  • Message title
  • First few words of message

If admin then clicked on the message title they would see the full message content.

Separately from this, it would also be useful to be able to see a table showing a summary of the number of messages sent by everyone (i.e. SELECT username, count(messages) GROUP BY username).  This would be especially effective for spotting the spammers.  Such a table would need to have the ability to select, for example, only active profiles, or only profiles with a certain membership type.

To put the privacy nannies minds at rest, this is something which is already possible by looking at the database.  The problem is that this is a really admin-unfriendly way to do things.  Indeed, for me, I want to delegate this task to other admins, but cannot without giving them full access to the MySQL database (something I don't want to do).

I can see that from the lack of response that other admins are not clear why this is such a useful anti-spam feature; I will give an example of how I use this information to spot that someone is a spammer (see attachment).  In the example, I became suspicious from receiving a mail beginning "My name is juliet hinga,i saw your profile to and became intrested in you, ..." (my profile is clearly the admin, so it is clear to me from the start that she has not read my profile at all).  Then from examining the MySQL database, I can see that the user has sent 511 mails (!), almost all of which are absolutely identical (!!).

What I am proposing is the ability to be able to see this sort of information from the admin interface.  I find this incredibly useful, but it is annoying that I have to hack into the MySQL in order to see it, and this also makes it impractical to delegate to another admin to do.

Other admins, interested in having the ability to see this sort of info?

Another obvious spam example attached...but shouldn't we be able to see this info from the admin panel?

Great suggestion, I totally agree that this is needed. Currently the only way I am able to track the spammers without going into the DB is  if I put the common words that they use in the keyword filter, like "Hello Dear", and check different e-mail patterns and add them to the filter. So a message preview system would be a lot better.

I think another admin option should include the option to limit user messages sent per day which could assist in limiting spam messages from a user. I saw this admin option in another dating software.

I would also make a 'Mark as Spam' option available to the users reading/getting emails which could assist the admins to identify spammers.

Added this suggestions to Skadate7. Let's start from small: add the ability for admin to view all member's messages.
lcoover suggested a good idea about Spam reports for profile messages. We have already discussed this here http://www.skalfa.com/boards/confirmed-changes-for-skadate-7/report-a-spam-t138.0.html
