on the main admin screen which has fields showing membership, sex, status, have photo, have multimedia...etc., there should be a category called "subscribed" (for emailing) and a box indicating the amount of unsubscribed members and an associated link listing those members who have opted out.

I agree a "unsubscribed yes/no" column would be good.  (Especially when we can sort columns so we can easily get all those users together who have unsubscribed)
