This is a very good question. Is there a way to test mail templates? I too have the same question, since I'm trying to test this area.
The last thing you really want to do is send a mail to 300,000 users (ahem!
) and find out that the mail is unreadable!
At the present time, the only way seems to create a profile which fits bizarre unique criteria (e.g. Gold profile, status=suspended, etc.) to try and create a unique profile to whom a test mail gets sent, and then waiting till the next cron job send! Hardly admin friendly!!
The other thing which is needed is the ability to send a test e-mail NOW, and not wait till the next cron job time.
Suggestion, SkaDate:- Add an option "send only to admins" (or a specific e-mail address etc.)
- Add a "Send test e-mail now" button
What do you think SkaDate? Chance of getting this easy extra in May?
