There are some problems with thumbnails, principally:
a) when a user clicks on a thumbnail photo, they can arrive at a profile where NONE of the photos is the one displayed on the thumbnail (where the user has a thumbnail which is no longer based on any of the current photos).  This is sure confusing (I was confused when I had a case, so goodness knows how the poor user would feel.   Solution: display the thumbnail as part of the profile (duh!).  (see attach for examples)

b) the whole concept of what the thumbnail is and what it is used for is, I think, not strong enough for users; there is the link "make thumbnail", but I think it needs to be more in the users face exactly what the existing thumbnail is.  Solution: make a more explicit section within the "photos" page showing the thumbnail.

I have tried to push this via the ticket system, since the first of these problems I find so absurd that I think it's a bug even if it's working as designed, but SkaDate are not so sure that this is something other admins want.  So, other admins, what do you think?  Grin

Hmmm...I see that the other admins are asleep, or don't understand why this is worth having.  I'll explain.

Look at the two new attachments.

(1) In the "bad" usability example (which is the way things are at the moment), the user thinks, "ah, here's a nice looking girl, I'll click on her photo", and then when they reach the profile, they don't see at all the photo they've just clicked on, and so they think "Ooo!  Where's the girl I clicked on? - she was really, really sexy, where's her photo?  is this the same girl?  I'm not sure.  Did I click on the right thing?  I'm confused.  This is a really difficult to use website.".

I know this happens, because this is EXACTLY what happened to me, which is how I noticed the problem.  I clicked on the thumbnail photo, and was initially rather confused, because I didn't see anywhere the photo I'd just clicked on.  I thought, that's strange, is it the same profile?  And went back and checked what I'd just clicked on.

(2) In the "good" usability example (which is what I'm proposing), the user thinks "ah, here's a nice looking girl, I'll click on her photo", and then when they reach the profile, they immediately see the photo again which they've just clicked on, so they're immediately reassured that everything is well, they have not the slightest doubt that they have done the right thing, and so they think "Ooo, and look some other photos of her too.  Ooo, yes, she's really sexy.  Ooo, and I really enjoy using this site, it's so easy to use, ...".

I hope that's clear now!  And the good or bad usability of a site turns on often little things like this.

So, admins, do you want this enhancement?  Smiley

Thanks again for your suggestion. I talked to our tech manager. And we decided to include your suggestion in Skadate7. There will be profile's thumbnail on Profile View page.
Thank you.

Sorry for the late response, I agree with this suggestion. Will it be moved to Skadate 7? I like when it move there instead of a promise by Skadate. Skadate is always busy and may forget to add it. So adding it to the To-Do-List is preferrable. Thanks
