Within admin there is a "Suspend new members registrations".  I would the ability to put new registrations into "On Hold" state.  The difference is:
- status "Suspended" stops the user doing anything and makes their profile invisible to others.
- status "On Hold" simply makes the user invisible to others

It is really this second thing which I want - allow the user to do what he wants, but not let others see his profile until it has been approved.

What I propose therefore is to replace:
- "Suspend new members registrations": yes/no,
with
- "Set new member registrations status to:" active/on hold/suspended (drop-down, where the default can be active)

How about it SkaDate?  Grin

I'm sure I remember seeing a bug where you can change the profile status but the member can simply change it back from thier profile edit page - give it a try

So, Skalfa, what do you think?  Can you add this option?  It's a small amount of work (I think) to program, but would help admins (ahem, well, me at least) to keep things neat and tidy.

Hi all

"Suspend new members registrations" - this config means allow/disallow registration for new members. It isn't means to set "suspended" status for new member.

Regarding brusselsshrek's idea, there is a special config in admin area, named as "Allow not reviewed profiles to use site". In the previous revisions it was named as "Show not reviewed member on the site". This config allowed/disallowed to show new members(not reviewed) in profile lists. And not reviewed members were be able to use site as others active members.
We got a lot of suggestions for removing ability for not reviewed members use the site or make it optional and hide them from profile list . So, after that we removed config "Allow not reviewed profiles to use site" and added "Allow not reviewed profiles to use site".
In this case admin can only allow/disallow for not reviewed members to use site.
Ofcourse we can rollback this config again. What does others think?

This is not a bug. Profile can put his profile "onhold" and "active", but not suspended. And if admin suspended his profile, then he can't put it active by himself. try it please.

Adden,

This needs to be very simple for admins to understand.  I attach what I propose as a revised option.  This would enable admins to make profiles totally invisible to other users when they are new.

(Many admins probably don't even understand the problem, so I don't think they'll be a lot of feedback.)
