A large number our members use Firefox with an addon of Script blocking. They TRUST our website but any other websites that are being accessed through ours... those... they deny... including your Skalfa site. Which of course means that all of our ADs are no longer showing up for them... the number of hits is far lower than if I turn off Skalfa ADs. This IS a problem for our advertisers (and our ability to sell ads) Is it possible to make it an OPTION to hosted this locally like you offer for SkaDate.  |

Emil... No. It is not our desire nor intention to ever hide ads (unless they are a GOLD member.) - If you allow this ad rotation to be "self-hosted" these ads WILL show up on our "self-hosted" server. - The blocking done by the Firefox add-on is by Domain... not by script. That is why these ads are not showing up for our users with Firefox add-on, they block "Skalfa" not our site. Thanks for you attention in this matter. |

Self hosted SKADATE is GREAT! Any progress on this? I know we are all WAY busy but can you tell us... is it difficult to allow this to not be Dependant on the Skalfa servers.

At this moment we're not ready to work on it since we basically have 2 teams working on 2 major projects and doing the rest of the technical work including tech support, maintenance, company operational tools and such. It's definitely not wise to spread too thin but we will return to this once the release steam is off a bit. We have interests in Skalfa Ads as a project that is why it is not going to be abandoned shortly after launch it just needs to wait.

Try to do this:
1) In Channel code change domain ads.skalfa.com to ads.yourdomain.com
2) On yourdomain.com create .htaccess file
3) In .htaccess file crate rewrite rule to redirect all queries from ds.yourdomain.com to ads.skalfa.com
Something like this:
ReWriteRule ads.yourdomain.com/(.*) ads.skalfa.com/$1

Let me ask you this... If I'm trying to keep ALL of my traffic on my server (hence the question about self-hosting Skalfa Ads) why would I want to redirect ALL my web traffic to your slow and sometimes non-responsive server?

In fairness Harley I think the ska-ad servers performance is far better than it was - i have placed it back onto our site and so far so good .... 1 nice enhancement might be a dashboard view of stats by channel / day / time of click - returning clickers etc .... i am always hungry for analytics ..... how about you Harley - lol  |

LOL... yes Paul. I'm ALWAYS hungry for stats and am to some extent addicted to knowing how the site is performing and running. I have enjoyed the functionality that Skalfa Ads offers. Kudos to Emil and his staff for creating it... since this thread is: Can AD rotation be SELF HOSTED like SKADATE? the main question is still " Can AD rotation be SELF HOSTED like SKADATE?" I've spent a lot of money with Skadate and Skalfa to keep the software and connectivity from being detached from my control and server. As you can tell from my frustration in some of my previous posts, my passion around keeping my members satisfied on response time is PARAMOUNT. Hence the reason for this thread... This company offers HOSTED and PLATFORM solutions for Skadate, it only follows logic that this helpful "utility" for Skadate should ALSO be offered. So back to the topic at hand... Let me ask you this... i dont see the logic in not offering this module out so it can be self hosted ... unless there is some dark hidden agenda .... naaa too many late night spooky films .... although ..... lol seriously you have my vote dont see why are penalised in terms of your environment and flexibility - it is after all free, so whats the deal Good luck Luke - I know the force is strong with you ... |

I hope that since you and I are some of the most vocal about helping Skalfa to become the VERY BEST of the VERY BEST, that Emil and company will take heart and listen to what their customers are asking for! Bogles my mind... and to be honest I'm starting to wonder if you might be right on target with the "some dark hidden agenda" that is preventing them from allowing this function to be self-hosted? Let's see how many conspiracy theories we can come up with on why it can't be self-hosted? Being from the U.S. we have NO shortage of conspiracy theories!  (FOR HUMOR ONLY!) Is it possible that Skalfa Ads can't be self hosted because of any of the following: - Skalfa needs to keep the Ad Rotation utility HOSTED to user our ads to determine who's got the best SEX WEBSITES?
- Skalfa needs to keep the Ad Rotation utility HOSTED to user our ads to determine the very best vacation spots?
- Skalfa needs to keep the Ad Rotation utility HOSTED to user our ads to find their soul mates?
- Skalfa needs to keep the Ad Rotation utility HOSTED to user our ads to find out when the LOCK-n-Key parties are in the UK
I think the last one is the REAL reason! LOL But seriously I know that they have been VERY BUSY and hope that this very useful UTILITY will be avaialbe soon for SELF-HOSTED. |

god they would be fairly disappointed scanning through our ads ... we just took on one from the local knitting circle and the Society for Equal Rights for Badgers ... BUT I do like the concept of the ad's system it fills a big hole that can be found in the SKADATE advertising module ... but it needs to be able to take affiliate scripts, would be great if it could do A - B testing and I know I keep banging on about stats but without them ... how can you plan and revise any kind of meaningful campaign .... but having said all that - it is a fact that if a banner has got a heap of flesh on show it does get clicked the most - lol .... As long as the guys at skalfa can pick out the best bits of your moaning and groaning we should get somewhere half decent - lol ...  Hey I could always be Hetro on the range but hasnt got the same ring to it - pun intended - lol |
