I don't know why, but Skadate used "online now" and "call me now"  as the link for Private Chat/IM.  This is not recognisable and for this reason, members don't use this feature. Wouldn't it be better to have a seperate link called Private Chat or IM rather than blend it in with Online Now or Call Me Now. So a seperate link call Private Chat or IM is better and user-friendly.

Hi Easton

You can rename it as you wish via admin panel->Languages.
Found the lang key with value "online now"

I totally agree with the poster. I decided to rename the text as "On-line now" because it appears in the place where the time from last login ("10 minutes ago") appears, ant it is its natural sense. But most of my VIP users don't know that they should click there to open a private chat.

Yes, I know that I could change the text as something as "Private chat", but it will sound as an voluntary invitation from the profile and it would look weird.

Given that any profile has options, next to its photos, like: a) send virtual kiss, b) send private message, ... the logical option would be to add an option x) Invite to a Private Chat. This is the most intuitive place where most of users look for this option.

[For layout reasons this logical solution is not available, two diferent text strings could be defined and showed one next to the other: "Online now" and "Start private chat". But the right solution would be the previous one. ]

thanks.

Agree, a separate link should be for Private Chat or IM   and just have Text(online now) with icon to represent Online Now.

For example, there should be a separate link called Private Chat among other links such as Bookmark, Block, Send Friend Request and so on....

Sorry but I disagree with both of you - the whole point of any CMS is the ability to change phrases, wording and style ... to whatever fits best with your site ... I changed mine to read

Online NOW
'Click" To Chat

It works whats the problem ?

But my friend,  what we are saying is that members won't necessarily click Online Now to get to Private Chat. Private Chat is one of the least usable feature on my site because it is simply not recognisable/noticeable. Every member just see Online Now as a text meaning that another member is on site BUT who will necessarily click Online Now to get to Private Chat. Roll Eyes On other dating site you will see a separate link for Private Chat or IM(instant messaging).

Again - this is one  we will have to agree to disagree on ... BUT 1 thing that would be very useful is the ability to see what people are doing.  So that we can monitor how successful site wording changes are ... i.e if I change the wording of the IM link and the usage drops then the wording is wrong - however if the usage increased then the  wording is on the  right track.

Different wording will work for different sites - surely the KEY is the ability to monitor the effect ..

I renamed mine to Private Chat now. That works great. On my site, chat is used more than anything else. The problem is that Chat doesn't work that well. It should say when someone is typing. It should start a new line when the next person hits enter. It should have a time stamp on it. Most other IM's have this. Our chat will string lines together and you don't know what is going on. Anybody else seen this. All my members complain about it and want all members to use another chat outside my site.

Seems I reviewed your ticket with chat suggestions. And it was already added in TODO.
By the way, what did you mean saying "Our chat will string lines together and you don't know what is going on."? Please, contact our support team regarding this (attach sreenshots please).
