SELF-HOSTED readers who feel as I DO that SELF-HOSTED should afford the option of COMPLETE disconnect from any other server.
TO elaborate: When you purchase the SELF-HOSTED option (not the hosted option) there should be an option to DISCONNECT any connection to Skadate.
IE SO that our SELF-HOSTED servers are NOT RELIANT or DEPENDANT on another server.... you know... SELF-HOSTED.
SELF-HOSTED should have the option of "disconnecting" from Skadate. Your admin panel should have an option to DISCONNECT from any connection to Skadate so that the software it TRULY SELF-HOSTED and not reliant on a connection to your server.
THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT HOSTED sites have to worry about... this is just for those of us who paid for the FULL VERSION and RUN SKADATE software on our own servers.

I fully agree.
So I presume you have seen instances where this is not the case? My site is self-hosted; how can I test whether it is REALLY disconnected?

A really simple test to see if you are reliant on the connection to the SKADATE server is to log on to your ADMIN panel.
If YOU SEE the list of SKADATE announcements on the right? Then you ARE, Else You are NOT.
Those of us who want to provide the fastest connectivity possible to our membership can't afford to pay all this money to SELF-HOST and then be connected by slow response time of SKADATEs server. You think they could afford faster servers after all this time.
Bottom line: There are many times one of the administrators try to log on and they have to WAIT for the information from the SKADATE servers before they can even get into our "SELF-HOSTED" system. That's FULLY UNACCEPTABLE.

Ah, I've never had this problem. It's always been broken for me! The way that SkaDate suggested I fix it, is perhaps the key to switch them off. Disallow "remote file get content": 12 March 2008 22:26:45 [brusselsshrek] wrote: There is strange text, "Nao foi possivel encontrar o ficheiro pretendido." in the admin section top-right when I click on "Profiles". 13 March 2008 04:55:21 [SkaDate] replied: This text appears when admin panel cannot get the access to Skadate RSS feeds. Probably on your hosting "Remote file get content" option is not allowed. Please contact your hosting provider for further references.

Hey brusselsshrek, Hmmmmmm.... that sounds promising... can you elaborate on where this feature/function is set?
I think this is still a function that should be included as an OPTION in the admin panel for Skadate 7. Skadate should be completely cutoff from any STANDALONE "Self-hosted" site if so desired.

Dunno. For me it was a "feature" that this was broken, and I've never bothered to "fix" it.
I suppose contact your hosting provider.

Yeah I get that message IN FRENCH from time to time. But only AFTER I have had to wait for awhile. Sometimes it just HANGS there and never gives that message.
As a result of this:
How about SKADATE make the RSS FEED to the SKADATE server an OPTIONAL SETTING in SKADATE 7?

Hello guys. Thanks for share your points of view. Skadate official blog's feeds is the only way to deliver latest official news, update releases, minor changes, CRITICAL updates and etc... And the option to disable this will block access to such information. I know that there are connection problems from time to time and we are hard working to fix this issue. Just give us some time. And if we will not find any solutions, we will make it optional. By the way, everybody can ask our support team to disable it manually at this time. So, contact them if this is the real problem.
Thanks

Ban if you must Adden. The issue here is to make the self-hosted sites have an option of Disconnect. When you post that I should be contact with tech support I posted their reply. How is that being "indecent?"
