I found it "Unbelievable" that Skadate has a Bug Report section for chuppo chat and non for Skadate. Apparently, Skadate doesn't want us Admins to reveal those Bugs here since Skadate software is the company's core product. Well, to have Skadate software working properly there has to be a Bug Report section so that admins can post the feedbacks from their members. Already, i install this New Revision and i am witnessing lots of problems. Members are sending me emails of problems they are having/experiencing. I am NOT prepared to pay support to fix Bugs on my site which should not have been there in the first place. So, don't ask me to contact Support. I, personally, sent emails to support already to report these Bugs/problems But it seems when it comes to Bugs support rather give a slow reponse or none at all.

Easton - I have to be careful what I say or they will BAN me but I think I can agree with you and not get in trouble.  This is EXACTLY what I've been saying on some other posts...

Why a company doesn't allow us to post BUGS is very curious.  Submitting the bugs to "TECH SUPPORT" is a good idea but it shouldn't be FORBIDDEN here, that's FOR SURE!

I'd LOVE to know the BUGS you are experiencing Easton.  They are probably the same ones I'm encountering that SKADATE says "They will get back to me on"...

If a company FORBIDS us from posting a BUGS where does that leave us... their dissatisfied customers?  Well for me this BOARD has been a great VENTING place so I don't just completely go NUTS from the double standards of DON'T post bugs here but DO POST bugs for other products.

If I get BANNED it's been nice communicating with you and the other Admins.

Easton, we have already discussed this here http://www.skalfa.com/boards/feature-suggestions/whats-the-logic-behind-having-bug-reports-for-every-board-but-skadate-t328.0.html

Harley and Easton, since I am new here, I have enjoyed reading what others are experiencing. Adden, I always post my problems on SKADate with a ticket. However, I don't understand why we can't talk about our problems here to see if others are having the same problems. And sometimes, it might not be a SKADate problem, but maybe how we have set something up. Also, for you Adden, when you fix something that I have encountered on my system, does everyone get the fix? If not, they should know about the problem just like I should know about the problems they are having.

Accordign to Skadate there are no problems. Everytime I report something they tell me I am the ONLY ONE with problems, that no one else reports any problems.

Click girl - those are VALID and poignant concerns!  I agree!   Has SKADATE taken down any of your posts that are explaining an error you encountered?   Go ahead and share with us and if they do then you'll know.

SKADATE - I'm hoping you'll allow all of your paying customers to voice their issues as long as they ALSO report it to the TECH SUPPORT.   To not allow us to share our problems with the rest of your customer base would appear to be... well... you know... bad.

Like you Harley and others, I have asked why we don't have a section to talk about problems we are having or have encountered. This would help all of us and help SKADate to develop even a better product than they are producing today. I have also asked the question, "when I report a problem, do others get notified". I have not received an answer to this. I know others have had problems and I never got notified. Some problems we might encounter might have to do with the way we have set up our site, maybe not even an SKADate problem. Who knows? It sure would be nice to have an area for this, not an area to complain but an area to share. It would be good for everyone, including SKADate.

I think this has obviously been raised many times (I know I raised it here: http://www.skalfa.com/boards/ideas-exchange/how-do-we-get-bug-patches-t419.0.html;msg1679#msg1679, also mysteriously edited).

I've had two full-time developers flat out on my site for the last four weeks and believe me there are some major issues in the software they've had to fix (examples are in the distance calculation and the profile matching).

I do not feel that having spent all that money I should just send these to Technical Support with no return. I would want to post these to the community so I get something back from other people posting bugs etc. It would also start letting some of us with technical experience start sharing some fixes/hacks etc

Why can no one at Skadate get this?  Huh Every other software company does it. It's not a negative thing but positive, and so simple to do. If I was looking to buy the software again and read threads like this then I would certainly think twice. Go on Skadate, take a gamble - I promise you it will pay off.

I'm a site user, not a SkaDate employee so the following is only guesswork...

It seems to me one of the most likely reasons that SkaDate don't publish bugs widely is because they have a "fix immediately for the person who ('secretly', via the ticket system) tells them and fix for everyone else at the time of the next release".

Now, this might seem unfair, but I like it, because I get fixed immediately anything which I spot and therefore which bothers me.

The alternatives are:
  • SkaDate fixes every bug for EVERYONE the moment it is noticed and fixed for anyone.  NO COMPANY does this, since they would very quickly go bankrupt.
  • SkaDate fixes immediately bugs for NOBODY, and EVERYBODY has to wait for the next release

I understand that you'd all like to know the bugs that other people have spotted, but it seems that if they did that, then everybody would raise a ticket wanting the fix to their version, and then SkaDate would have to move to the model that most other companies use: EVERYBODY has to wait until the next release to get fixes.

I like the current system where I get fixes straight away to anything I raise a ticket on.  I do NOT want to change to a system where all bugs are declared openly, but yet I have to wait for the fix.

Brusselssrek put it best.

I have only one thing to add to the above reasons - SkaDate is a commercial product with open source. So privacy concern is automatically here. We want to keep this board open so all people can see what we discuss here - this is fair. So prospects could decide on their own if they want to buy SkaDate and participate in this community instead of shooting in the dark.

Bug report section or anything that discusses source code must be private. This is not the only but on of the important reasons we don't create public bug report board for SkaDate.
