Our standard installation is released with two language packs. But the more languages you have on your board, the more users you can attract, because many users simply don`t speak English very well and some of them will speak Russian.
Perhaps we could find some users who are willing to exchange language packs and give the extracted language pack to the Skadate team as a feature for the version 7.0. I think we all could benefit from such a development, cause I dont see us as competitors here, but as people who are exchanging ideas: and perhaps some language packs soon  Cool! But well it must be clear for the translator that a languange pack only makes sense, then there are no missing values in the standard configuration of it. And I`m aware of that this is a lot of extra work. But well then A translates it into German (me), B into French (perhaps Easton?), C into Spanish (perhaps Brusselsshrek or designx?),- we would have most of the important languages of the world in the box. Perhaps we can find an agreement and a deadline until when it is finished (would one month be ok?).

Then of course we would need somebody who translates it into Japanese and Chinese (there are a lot of them out there,- and I bet they wanna flirt too), but I wonder who could do that. Are there any volunteers around?

Seems like there is not so much interest in this topic so far! But well, I have seen a lot of boards with different language packs and we all might have some profit from adding new languages to our boards: so it might be an interesting fact for all.

Nice suggestion Sean34. Is anybody yet going to support this idea?

Well, seems like so far I`m the only one to support this idea! Because of that - and it is a lot of work, no peanuts-I don`t want to give my translation out for free! But it is ready and finished! And well, for all the other admins, a german language set covers at least three countries: Germany, Austria and Switzerland. And many people in Europe will only join a board, when they understand the language of it! Besides that there are also a lot of dating communities in these countries.  And they will never BUY a membership, when they don`t understand the text and the terms. So I invested a lot of time in finetuning that translation! You can see the translated language pack on my page http:www.afrolatinfriends.com/go/afroasianfriends! This is no PR, but you can see, how it works and make your own testimonial! But remember I have the copyright on it! Nethertheless I don`t wanna keep it, I will send it to the Skadate-technicians tomorrow! So they can finetune it even a little bit more, do some additional php (I`m new to this and can`t do that) and add it to Skadate 7! And after that it is their copyright!

But of course I`m willing to give it out for free before: to other admins who also add a language pack! But it should be a complete one, or at least a rather complete one  Grin! So give a language pack,- and get a language pack! My problem is, that I need a French language pack for the latest version of Skadate! Are there any volunteers? Huh I know that it is a lot of work, but in the end, when you see the result..well....it is worth it!

Regards
Sean

This topic has already been discussed before:
http://www.skalfa.com/boards/ideas-exchange/language-files-t76.0.html

I agree the lack of languages is a bit of a problem.  I think the only way it can happen is if SkaDate at least do the organisation of making it possible (and easy) for anyone/everyone to contribute, i.e. a sort of open source development for the language packs.  For this to work, it needs firstly a structure, and secondly one or two developers willing to make the first move (regardless of whether anyone else contributes or not).

I am happy to say that there will be 3 new language packs available in a few days. Everybody will be able to download them from CA and import via Admin Panel->Languages->Tools.

Great thanks to Sean34 for providing us with German language.

WOW! I`m deeply impressed!! Great thanks to the Skadate-Support and the technical department!!
Spanish and Portuguese are two very VERY amazing language packs to have! Now Skadate comes with 5 big language packs out of the box, and this five language packs are all global players (ok I dont wanna sound hybrid,-perhaps apart from German  Wink).

I just downloaded and installed the language packs and I really can feel the smile in my face Grin! Especially with Spanish you cover a very big part of the international world map, cause Spanish is besides English probably one of the most spoken languages of the world. But also with Portuguese, which is for example the official language in Brazil, we have a big player on board. Apart from that we have here countries in which only a little minority of the population speaks English. But the big minority of them has an internet connection or visits cybers ... Now we only still have to find the right pages to make advertisement. One of the other big advantages of these language packs is that they really cover all the language that is necessary on our boards (there are only some minor keys missing, but that can be fixed within 15 minutes). I have seen so called language options on the demo boards of some other software companies which are no real language options cause only a few words of the whole necessary infrastructure are acutally translated into the other language: the rest is simply English again (I dont wanna mention which companies, cause such kind of PR is probably forbidden on public accessible boards of different competitors: but you easily can google and check out some demos and you WILL see what I mean). But HERE we have full language packages which are complete for the whole and complex Skadate Software: as far as I can judge after a first installation and overview.

That is a really great and nice FEATURE to have, in my eyes far more important than a different forum or some simple effects, cause most of the people dont wanna write into a forum, they want to understand what they read, check profiles, chat, get in touch, flirt and date. What a pitty that I actually dont have so much time to make advertisement for my boards right now, but I will do that soon  Wink!! And I`m sure the extended language capabilities are a big step towards more members and more traffic on our boards...

Muchas gracias y hasta pronto!
Con un cordial saludo
Sean
PS: After downloading and integrating the language pack, you have to active the new language under languages. If the language pack doesn`t load automatically you will have to set it as the
default language and press save.
You can easily change that later again. Then go to your board again, but before delete the cache, the cookies and the temporary files. And hupa, here it is.
