Hello guys - im new to skadate and im just starting out in this online dating world. Firstly  I must say a big thanks to Emil and the guys who have made my site and all the hard work they have done.

I have some stupid questions in regards to hosting. This is not that that hosting package i take from skadate is not good - but more how do i expand and protect my business.

I brought the full package and I have access to the code and all - and my site is currently hosted by Skadate. If i wanted to have it hosted by another provider - how do i go about this Huh (I dont want to by the way)

Also - Is my website backed up. after putting a lot of time and effort into it, How can i save my site and its code so if the server crashes I have a copy Huh? Do i actually own the cpanel software and all ??

Emil - hope my questions dont seem anti-skadate as they really are not. you have done my hosting great up to now and i will stay with you but i just need some more understanding on this topic

This may not be the right place to discuss this -BUT -  I have a fully hosted service with SKADATE and my site is only backed up once a week. I understand to some degree why it is only backed up once a week but I am very uneasy about this situation ... If we lost a weeks worth of site activity it would be a disaster ... my only option I am told is to go to a dedicated server .... I am VERY nervous about losing data ..  again apologies if this is not the correct place to air these common concerns ... Paul

Making a backup is easy as 1 2 5

2 things you have to do is

a. Backup the mysql database
b. Backup the dir folder where all the skadate files are kept

Thats it!

Now to backup (a) you should downloaded mysqldumper http://www.mysqldumper.de/en/
Its easy, you upload the program install it and it makes a backup for you of the mysql

To backup (b) just right click and copy the whole folder where skadate is

---

I might make it sound confusing but its so easy!
You don't even need to have advanced skills to do this

Hope this helps!

Porsche007,

Welcome to the boards. Yes, your site is backed up once a week. Currently we don't offer more frequent backups because it's a very resource-consuming process for accounts with complex software like SkaDate and affects overall performance greatly.

Yes, you can host your site elsewhere and/or do backups by yourself since you hold software license (use car's advice).
