Dissapointingly I've started to notice a few bugs as I put this software through its paces. Here's a simple one: when you delete a user then whenever anyone who that user's viewed clicks on their "Who Viewed Me" linked they'll get a database error.

Some questions:
How do I report them?
When do you fix them?
How do I see what else has been spotted and fixed?
How do I get a patch for my version (non hosted)?

Just nervous as I've been there before with a software company for whom I found lots of bugs yet they didn't release the fixes to me - only every 6 months in a new version I didn't really want.

thanks

Everybody can contact our tech guys and they will fix it by demand. Also, this bugfix will be included in the next update.

Okay, this is the bit I was nervous about. I could be in a position today with a major bug on my site which is killing my members and having to wait for Skadate's next release before I can fix it (which I don't believe are always timely).

Is there not a simple way of having a bug tracker with fixes against it? Just open another Board for it. Personally, if I was buying this software again I would have preferred to have seen a board with some bugs in it being fixed than not - all software has bugs, it's how the dev company fixes them that makes them stand out from their competitors.

If there isn't a process to document bug/security fixes then looks like I'll just have to get them all fixed locally on my site. Just means we don't work so well as a community unfortunately.

You don't need to wait for the next release to get founded bugfixes. Contact our tech guys and you will get it immediately. Also these bugfixes will be included in the future updates. As you said any software has bugs. And the quality of the software in some cases depends on the significance of those bugs. From time to time we get reports from our customers about some minor bugs. We fix them and include these fixes in the updates. But if someone reports a significant bug then we release update with bugfix immediately. But this happened just once.

Thanks

I noticed that same error message is shown under Profile Comment, when member is deleted.

Adden, I don't know the history of big fixing at Skadate but please stop being so defensive. I am not knocking the software in the slightest - I think it's one of the least buggy software scripts I have ever used.

However, I do have a reasonable question - how do I find out about any bugs and relevant fixes if they are not displayed anywhere? For all I know some other members could have logged some bugs that have been fixed and I need to request the patches.

I really don't understand why you don't create a communal area for us to raise them, discuss them, test them, fix them and then apply them. As you say, they should be few and far between.
