I would suggest that for SkaDate 7 the release timing is planned a little better.

Probably the two most important things for us as admins are:
  • that the delivered version is rock-solid, i.e. as bug free as possible
  • that you announce a date and stick to it.

This means you should plan to allow enough time for all the required testing, and bug fixing (from the tests), and retesting, and bug fixing, which means stopping development of new things to allow this time.
  • Deadline minus 6 weeks: beta version availaible for testing by admins
  • Deadline minus 5 weeks: beta version testing complete
  • Deadline minus 4 weeks: pre-production version available for testing by admins
  • Deadline minus 3 weeks: pre-production testing complete
  • Deadline minus 2 weeks - delivery
  • Deadline which was announced

I know this schedule means that you deliver 2 weeks before the deadline, but that gives you a small margin of error  Wink.  Admins aren't going to complain if they get it early are they?

I say all of this now, since if you are planning to deliver end-August...well, I'll leave you to do the maths.  Grin

That's very kind Harley Grin

Though I think if they hired me there might need to be a steep hike in the SkaDate price to pay for my fees  Shocked

Good plan.
When we will have a deadline we will try to do as something like that.
Thanks

Since we are now apparently approaching a release date, I think it's a good time to remind whoever is interested of my release plan suggestion.

Good plan, we are now in October and we were promised that Skadate release date is November. So this plan is good timing. Most admins would be disappointed if it is not release in November, for me i already told my members and they expect lots of New features and Improvement. It's a major release so i don't expect anything less

Unless Skalfa start this release plan this week, either the release will probably be later than end November, or it will be rushed and buggy.

I would just like to know WHEN the planned release is.

I suppose since we are not going to see any beta version, that the version we get in November. will be 'as is'.  i.e. buggy
