I have just has this post from suport
**************************8
Dear Paul,

We hadn't test IE7 and Vista. We do not use Vista OS because it is raw and unstable now. And we do not have official Vista support with our software.

Have a nice day,
Michael
*******************************

So now not only do you guys not support IE6 BUT you not do support VISTA HuhHuhHuhHuh?

In the UK it is almost impossible to purchase a new PC from the High Street without it coming PRE-LOADED with VISTA.

If this is correct and then is a HUGE flaw in the SKADATE roadmap !!!!!

I urgently wait your reply - I think this is something that needs to raised in terms of visability !!!!!

How can Skadate not support IE6 and IE7?

Is this a joke?

Scallywags
Please, would you specify what do you mean under supporting VISTA? If VISTA has IE7 installed, then no problems, because you browse your site not via OS, you do it via browser.

Easton
Microsoft developed this both browsers in the way which is not allow to support them both. Skadate is a complex software with many CSS/HTML/Javascript code which works absolutely different in IE6 and IE7. (this is a major problem)
IE7 is more popular then IE6. That's why we decided to support it in current version.

To just add -  skadate support have confirmed  that the latest version of IE7 running under vista and SKADATE are not fully compatible .. as detailed above this is mainly to do with subtle differences in css handling between IE7 builds ...

From what I understand from support - SKADATE is optimised for IE7 build 7.0.5730.11

The latest build for IE7 under VISTA that we have running is 7.0.6001.18000

This would explain why the screens do not display the same between XP and VISTA ...

Firefox seems to retain more consistency with SKADATE between XP and VISTA

I think most of us would agree that this is an urgent issue given that most new PC's sold run VISTA and most users run IE7 and hopefully SKADATE will assign this issue high priority  - unless of course I have got it completely wrong ....  Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh

As a web developer we sometimes have to sacrifice functionality to ensure both cross browser and browser version compatibility to ensure a wider audience.  What does anyone else think ... Paul

Hope in Skadate7 we will do it. Or the best way to make Skadate7 compatible with IE8 as david suggested here http://www.skalfa.com/boards/feature-suggestions/internet-explorer-80-t562.0.html. What do you think?

What concerns me is that we still have 20% of our members on IE6 - I am sure this is a common trend , the take of IE8 is going to be very slow at best ...

In addition 34% of the visitors are on Vista ...

I think the need is now ..  my view would be to ensure IE7 works correctly in Vista NOW not wait or hold back ...

In an ideal world both XP and Vista fully compliant for IE6, IE7 and all versions of FIREFOX ...

Figures based on google analytics ...
