If you purchase another license you can install another site. Theoretically the two sites can be connected to the same database and we tried that on internal development servers but never in production environment.

The biggest thing to be aware of is that the sites will share not only profiles (as one of the tables) but the whole database including settings, memberships, profile fields, navigation, template, etc. Basically you will have two identical websites.
