  2. LOVE the new template!. just a few items i don’t understand. i see that you added “My Neighborhood”. What does that feature do and how is it accessed?…next, i see “Birthday List”…again, what does it do and how is it accessed.

    1) in the users upload multimedia section, the upload box is not fully visible.

    2) the “change password” link text is incorrect.

    3) i’m not sure i like the “total users” displayed. it should be able to be turned on or off thru the admin. sites that are just starting out will not have a sufficient amount of users listed, and that may discourage new users from commiting to a paid subscription if they feel the site is to limited.

    4) the text links in the home window is a little washed out in contrast to the yellow and purple. it should be made either darker or another color.

All things considered it’s a great update!

  3. sorry…in ref.#4…i meant the yellow and blue.

  4. Oh… and by the way…the #1 feature i really would have liked in this update, is the ability by the admin to determine what pics get displayed in the opening spalsh screen. some members post pictures of their cars or animals, or some ridiculous pose, that to me, or any prospective new user would certainly not attract them to signup to the site. an opening screen that does not attract signups, defeats all marketing campaigns.

  5. Sounds good ! When do you think we might get upgraded ?

  6. David,

Thanks for your valuable comments. You seem to have done a good job of reviewing the new demo.

    1) It was only a demo issue. Now fixed.
    2) This is not in the product package, only on demo. We will figure out what was wrong with it.
    3) I agree that this feature should be improved and implemented in “site statistics” summary manner. We will do this in the upcoming revisions. So far you can turn it off in Admin Panel > Global Configuration > Additional Settings, if you don’t want it to be visible.
    4) Agree, we’ll fix that.

Thanks for your input David, you help us make the product better!

Scallywags, as far as I know your site has already been updated, thanks. People, feel free to submit your update requests to support.

  7. David,

I have a question regarding your suggestion to moderate pictures for the homepage. Dynamic selections like top, online, and latest members can hardly be pre-moderated. How exactly should it work?

By Emil @ Skalfa on Dec 25, 2007

  8. the pictures for the homepage should only be taken from member thumbnails and just like you have you have a check box for featured profiles, you should have a check box next to a members thumbnail in the admin section to highlight that photo.

By David on Dec 25, 2007

  9. instead of picking from the featured profile pool, the admin should be able to check each individual picture that they wish to appear on the homepage. the featured profile checkbox should should only display those profiles in the featured member section. (when a new user signs up and let’s say they post 6 new pictures in their profile…currently, all 6 photos will display on the homepage and that shouldn’t be.)

  10. David, I understand you. We are going to set up public feature suggestion section on the site so you will be able to submit this feature and let others to vote for it. Those features with public demand will most likely be implemented first.

Thanks for suggestions, keep up the good work.

  11. Hi – what plans if any are to make the templates more SEO friendly … the template we use does not allow us to place any text on the logon page …. or am I missing something .. Thank you

By scallywags on Jan 14, 2008

  12. Sorry another suggestion – would be excellent to be able to see how many people we logged in to the chat room Thank you

  13. Paul,

Sure, you can change any piece of text on your site. It’s all about finding corresponding text string in admin area, languages section. You can use search to find the string in question. We took good care about SEO when we projected the current platform model, like custom meta tags, titles, texts, and page URLs. It would be great if you find and point at anything that can be improved SEO-wise.

As for chat room online count – good suggestion. As far as I know you use chuPPo Chat, so it needs to be done on its side. I’ll talk to chuppo guys if it’s possible.

    Thanks.

  14. Hi – I fully understand how it works – we use template Dark Passion and I cant find a free format text field for the login/index page . Meta Despription and Keywords are OK but you cannot beat a piece of text … from what i can see this does not exist on this template … Thank you

By scallywags on Jan 17, 2008

  15. Paul,

Looks like `Dark Passion` template doesn’t have promo text string on the sign-in page. This is a very old (actually the first) template in SkaDate, and looks like that piece of text wasn’t intended there at all. You can add it in a similar way the other templates have it. You might want to examine sign-in pages of other templates.

Give support a call if something goes wrong.

    Thanks.

  16. We are hosted and managed and do not access to template design ? – Please advise – I feel like we are missing out on SEO due to lack of text on login page … Thanks Paul
