WackWall feature update: member/content management tools

June 17, 2009 – 2:37 am, by Emil @ Skalfa

Hey, today we have some more news than just fabulous we-are-working-on-WackWall-2.0 one. We have successfully finished deploying new set of management features for the current WackWall platform.

From now on Network Admnistrators can:

- Remove your social network from WackWall;
- Remove all kinds of content from your social network;
- Remove comments from all kinds of content on your social network;
- Ban users.

These features were long due and we took our time to release them now instead of further forcing to wait for them in the upcoming grand re-launch.

Feel free to submit feedback at dev.wackwall.com.

  4. Is wackwall going to have a members-search based on age, weight, height and location feature in the future?

    By Mark on Jun 23, 2009

  5. It may be added to WackWall and will definitely be available in OpenWack.

  8. You promised to launch in October, Nov is almost over. You advertised for us to move here if we were kicked off ning, but now my members are loosing interest and joining other clubs. I am just going to look for another place. I’d rather have something in super beta and have all my members in one place than loose them all waiting and waiting until I loose everyone. You keep me hanging. I told everyone that I am waiting for you, We are loosing patience.

    You seem like you would be a great network for us, and as we get more members I would upgrade too, but from what I see you keep on promising new dates and delaying a little more every time. Can’t you just launch it and improve it while we get everyone together? Ning only gives a week to move your data, so I lost all that stuff waiting for you. It’s a little upsetting. Sorry I am not nagging, just telling you what I see from checking in every week. It feels like for ever when timing is of essence.

  9. Dr Grace,

    Sorry, we definitely are behind schedule and failed to deliver on deadline promise. We will be glad to do as you advised, “just launch it and improve it while we get everyone together”. I want to assure you that we don’t sit and trying to make a perfect thing. Our goal is basic working beta version. Unfortunately this comes no sooner than December. But this is the final deadline for pubic beta of the new service – December or never. I’m speaking about adult division of WackWall.

    So fat you can read about the development of the underlying software platform: http://www.openwack.org/blog/2009/11/openwack-dev-marathon-started.html and follow realtime development updates at twitter.com/openwack.

  10. I didn’t mean to sound harsh, I am a very sweet person ;0) but I am feeling pressured. At first my members were emailing where are we moving, when are we moving, almost every day, then every week, and now the inquiries almost stopped totally :( I am scared I am loosing them. It really took a lot to get them to join my saucy after I took it over from the person who tricked them to join and pay a lot of money and then Vanish and scam them all and letting the club and website lapse. Imagine paying hundreds of dollars for a membership to a site with really cool live parties, you went to a couple, then you go to the site one day and the site doesn’t exist… Then I took it over a made it on NING, we all got comfortable, people were really enjoying it and getting reacquainted, then ning kicked MY Club off with the same members. I really cared with all my heart, I custom designed the look of the pages, had special tabs/pages to explain and teach members how to custom design and make their pages express who they are, I wrote tutorials for them how to upload videos photos, how to post to the forum and even had a page where members could write their own stories and fantasies, I had a page for Club etiquette and I really cared about how my club turns out, the network club and real life experience, it took me almost a year to perfect and make everything the way I wanted it to be, NING just shut me down without warning. I never knew they decided not to host adult networks any more, I don’t understand how they could do that to people. Mine wasn’t a porn site, it was a erotic club where adults can be adults and not have to be worried about children teens and prudes, I made it private, anyone that was not a member could not see inside the club. I am a mother, I would never endanger teens or children, but I believe we all need to have a place where we can feel comfortable. I also had an advice column where my articles helped adult couples with bedroom and relationship troubles, they shut that one down too. I have a couple of other ideas for more networks but I want to work on my advice column and my club first, get my friends to one place again and this time I beg with my heart please let me know anything I am not doing right or something is out that shouldn’t be, I am all for protecting children from unwanted content and others from viewing things that may offend them. I am a reasonable intelligent woman, just tell me what to do, right? I am sure if they gave me a fair warning I could have done something to further more improve the privacy of my images and members, after all it’s in my interest to protect my members privacy as well. I am waiting for wackwall with bated breath. Please I hope you will never put us through what NINg did to us and me, I almost felt like suing their nasty prudish butts for all the months of work and the heart I put into creating my networks. I am so excited to have found you guys and thank you for the opportunity and all your hard hard work, desperation and pressure makes us all a little unpleasant sometimes, even if we don’t mean to be. Please do your best to launch soon :) Grace

  11. Grace,

    Sad to hear this story. We are working hard to do our best. Although we don’t have anything yet to prove we are different, we appreciate your trust in WackWall. Since you have an adult site, you’ll bу converted to the new system shortly after launching live with the new platform this month. Cheers and watch news!

    Thank you for your patience.

  12. I was also thinking and maybe you are open to suggestions, if not sorry, if yes here it goes: Maybe you can offer something like this so if members want any extra features they will be available. Look at it and I think it will be a good idea, even if someone has a free network you can still make some money if they want want extras on their specific network. http://www.konsort.org/ I think that once people start creating you will need some kind of support. No one is made of money, and most people I believe would spend a 14 dollars to have a cooler chat or even have a feature to email members when there is someones birthday coming up. Even the people who can’t afford to pay monthly memberships can spend 14 or 29 dollars one time to have something cool on their network, one member may do it, another may not but the more people you have creating on your site, and people will know you have this available I know one and one and one adds up and you can stay in business :) Just trying to help :) Grace

  13. We are definitely open to suggestions. We will set up a discussion board where users will be able to give us feedback and to ask for features. Stay tuned!
